STARFLEET MEDICAL

It is our goal to make sure the health of our members is of primary concern by keeping them up to date with advancements in medicine (i.e. procedures, medications, and other health care innovations) in their respective countries and communities.

What is STARFLEET Medical at SFI?

STARFLEET Medical at the STARFLEET International Fan Club is a club within a club. In “real life” we do not practice medicine but encourage healthy lifestyles, issue health challenges, encourage first aid and CPR training, and spread awareness around medical advances and research that may be of interest to our fellow STARFLEET members.

While STARFLEET Medical tends to attract members that work as medical professionals in their everyday lives, you do not have to be a medical professional to join. It is intended as a place to gather for members that enjoy science, medical science, biological science or just have a favourite doctor on a favourite series and are interested in exploring what we have to offer.

Officially, STARFLEET Medical is organized within STARFLEET International as an ‘auxiliary department’ and operates under the Office of the Vice Commander, STARFLEET. STARFLEET Medical follows its own set of guidelines and command structure but is still integrated within the overall SFI Command Hierarchy.

The command structure at STARFLEET Medical is headed by our current Surgeon General (also known as the Director of STARFLEET Medical) Fleet Captain Mark Logan. STARFLEET Medical has a Command Staff to support the Director, Assistant Surgeon Generals to represent STARFLEET Medical at the regional level, and general medical crewmembers posted throughout the fleet.

We have our own medically themed courses and curriculum if you enjoy academy courses, our own newsletter, and our own awards. If you’re looking for new ways to contribute to your chapter, we can help you do so by promoting health and wellness.

Our Goals

  1. To raise awareness and promote community health, public health, home, and workplace safety issues related to community service activities among STARFLEET club members.
  2. To ensure the health of our members by keeping them up to date with advancements in medicine (i.e. procedures, medications, and other health care innovations) in their respective countries and communities.
  3. To encourage our members to learn CPR, and Basic First Aid, and to become aware of serious and acute conditions such as stroke, cardiac issues, accident prevention, and related subjects STARFLEET members and their families will benefit greatly.

Who can join?

The STARFLEET Medical Corps is a volunteer community of affiliated members that are oriented towards the health and safety of all STARFLEET members. Our focus is to assist Regional and Chapter Medical Officers by making public health and medical information available to the members of STARFLEET. This is in keeping with the vision of Gene Roddenberry by being dedicated to helping humankind attain noble goals and ideals and lead by example through service and teamwork as illustrated in the TV series.

If you have an interest in medicine, first aid, public health, Star Trek doctors, and/or medical-related episodes, you might find STARFLEET Medical a fun place to be. You do not have to be an actual medical professional to join, and you can do so here: https://medical.sfi.org/welcome-to-starfleet-medical/join-us/

Although there are several licensed medical professionals in STARFLEET Medical, we do NOT issue medical advice or treatment to anyone and instead encourage them to pursue professional medical attention for any concerns they may have.

We share medical news along with community health education and home safety information for the members of STARFLEET International Fan Association, however, that information is not intended to be used for medical diagnosis and treatment.
